One may question the necessity of a sequel to Roger Corman's earlier "Alien" knock-off, but clearly he thought there was a bit more mileage to be had out of it, so here we are.
Picking up some time after the events of the original, Andrew Stevens character, David, is making his way across the post apocalyptic desert wasteland, trying to get to an underground bunker located in the rocky mountains, following the destruction of his own base at the end of the last film.
Rescuing a young girl from one of the mutants that are preying on what's left of humanity, they then encounter a band of survivors, who subsequently try to sacrifice them to the mutants, thinking if they do that they will leave them alone. At which point they decide it's time to escape, though not before one of the mutants bends the young girl over a rock (if you know what I mean).
They eventually make it to the facility, and find the young girl is pregnant by one of the mutants, which subsequently gives birth to a laughably bad human/mutant hybrid and the film descends into a re-tread of the first, which essentially rips off "Alien".
Only difference is, when they were sneaking inside the facility, one of the mutants got its finger cut off in the hatch, which grows into a mutant clone, so now there's 2 nasty creatures running round inside, which they now have to deal with.
R Lee Ermey (everybody's favourite Drill Instructor) turns up as the base commander, whilst sharper eyed viewers may recognise Burton Gilliam from "Blazing Saddles" in a supporting role.
Written and Directed by lead actor Andrew Stevens, this was, as with the first film, laughably bad. So if you enjoyed the first film, you should enjoy this.
