Set in the not too distant future, the accidental release of a biological agent has decimated the worlds population, and turned many of the people that it didn't kill into bizarre mutants, known as gargoyles.
At a remote underground military bunker in the Mojave desert, the group of scientists and soldiers stationed there have been reduced to scavenging snakes for food, as their food rations have all but run out.
Surprised to find a female survivor out in the desert, who appears to be 3 months pregnant, they take her inside the facility and offer her medical help. But as it turns out, the child she is pregnant with is not human and the next thing you know, following a suitably gory "birthing" scene, there's an "Alien" rip off running around the base, and the personnel have now got to find a way of killing it, given that they ran out of Ammo months ago.
A fun, if not rather cheesy, low budget flick. This was one of several "Alien" knock-offs produced by the infamous Roger Corman, and has a relatively decent cast, including George Kennedy and Soft Porn actor Andrew Stevens, along with Corman regular Terri Treas.
Whilst some of the special effects may be a little ropey (particularly the Gargoyle costumes), there's some nice gore scenes and is definitely worth a watch if you enjoy these low budget sci-fi, action thrillers.
