Now THIS is more like it, a Ghoulies film that is actually both funny AND entertaining. Set at Glazier College, the Ghoulies invade a fraternity house on the campus, after being summoned up by the incantations in an old comic book.
There they proceed to wreak havoc, trashing the dorms, drinking all the student's beers and bumping off a number of the unfortunate teens by flushing them down the toilet. Of course, it's the middle of "prank week", where the 2 main sorority houses are trying to out-prank each other, so the majority of incidents are put down to the antics of rival fraternities.
The College's long suffering Dean, Professor Ragner (Kevin McCarthy), hates all the students under his tutorage with a vengeance. So when he gets his hands on the comic book and discovers what's going on with the little demonic creatures, he decides to have them do his bidding. Leading to several comical attempts of them trying to kill off the fraternity leaders.
Directed by John Carl Buechler, who did the special effects on the previous films, this one is without doubt, the best of the "Ghoulies" films, containing all the elements that were promised, but strangely absent, from the previous movies. There was toilet humour, T&A shots, and plenty of murder and mayhem. This one is also notably different in that the Ghoulies actually talked, as opposed to just grunting like in the other films. It was also good to see horror B-movie actor Kevin McCarthy (of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" fame) in this.
If you only see one "Ghoulies" film, watch this one as it is by far the funniest of the bunch. If the other films had been half as funny as this, they would have made a decent series.
